We have a number of fitting choices to offfer and our revised pricing structure means that the final price is determined by the fittings that you choose.  The various fititing options are detailed below.

Seats

We currently offer a number of different types of seats:

  • Carbon top with bearing wheels ('Standard' for our Honeycomb Carbon Boats)
  • Synthetic top with bearing wheels
  • Synthetic top with double action mechanism
  • Timber top with bearing wheels
  • Timber top with double action mechanism

In deciding a seat type, the biggest consideration needs to be on weight.  Carbon bearing wheel seats are the lightest option and synthetic double action are the heaviest.

Stretchers

We have the following options available for stretchers

  • Carbon foot stretcher fitted with New Wave rowing shoes ('Standard' for our Honeycomb Carbon Boats)
  • Timber foot stretcher fitted with New Wave rowing shoes
  • Timber clog foot stretcher

New Wave rowing shoes are a European designed rowing shoe that is made from an anti-bacterial, quick drying fabric.  They offer superior comfort and are very durable.

Rigger Options

Riggers do a vital job - inferior riggers waste time, disrupt training and lose races!

We offer a range of rigger options to suit your craft (and budget) all designed to provide maximum torsional rigidity,  tremendous vertical stiffness, huge strength & durability and a great appearance & finish.

All of our riggers are produced in-house either by our highly skilled and equiped Metal department or fabricated in carbon by our Hull Laminators, so quality control and a perfect fit are guaranteed - every time.

All our riggers are fully adjustable and fitted with  backstays.

Aluminium Wing Riggers

Sykes Racing were amongst the pioneers of wing rigger technology producing our first wings in 1985.  Aerodynamically shaped aluminium wing riggers are available either powdercoated or hard anodized.

The aerospace inspired design reduces air drag, and by attaching to the top of the saxboard on specially reinforced saxboard flanges  lessens the chance of contact with water. Mounting riggers to the top of the saxboards also distributes rowing loads more efficiently and requires less supporting structure than side bolted riggers. With less material needed to support the rigger loads, more material can be dedicated to stiffening the boat. A stiff boat does not waste athlete effort.

Wing Riggers are standard fittings on our honeycomb single sculls unless specified otherwise.

Carbon Wing Riggers

Sykes also produce carbon wing riggers for single and double sculls at additional cost if required. Combining our superb design and the latest  materials enables us to produce a carbon fiber rigger that is light, super stiff and strong, and with both aerodynamic and hydrodynamic advantages.

Aluminium 3-stay Riggers

Traditional style polished aluminium riggers

Stainless Steel Riggers

Polished stainless steel riggers. Simple, durable and strong. Ideal for training or school boats. Although marginally heavier than the standard aluminium variety, these riggers are super tough and stand up to the roughest treatment that can be dished out to them. From beginners to advanced in any club or school program.

Carl Douglas AeRoWing Riggers

AeRoWing riggers by Carl Douglas give a unique, engineered combination of lightness, stiffness and strength - plus minimised wind & water drag. Few other riggers have the toughness and life-span of AeRoWings. Nothing matches AeRoWing efficiency and simplicity.
