Ongoing testing and research at Concept 2 has resulted in many developments over the last few years.

Our new blade shape, the "Fat Smoothie Blade" is our latest offering and follows the Big Blade, Smoothie and Vortex Edge.

A larger surface area and different shape creates a more efficient shape, particularly in the first half of the stroke.

Fat Smoothie Blade

Our steps in the development of the Fat Smoothie Blade have been as follows:

• Alter the shape of the blade to decrease the amount of slip.
• Decrease the outboard length to acheive the correct load.
• Test on the water to confirm effectiveness.

By following these testing proceedures, we now have two new blade shapes available to our customers:

Note: These blades should be ordered about 5cm shorter (if rowed with the same spreaed and inboard as the Smoothie or Big Blade) to acheive a similar loading.
