Sykes Racing Support PDF Print E-mail
Rowing is Sykes’ reason for being, and our primary goal is to promote and encourage the growth of rowing whether on the water, or indoors. Since 2000 Sykes has contributed over $1 Million across the Australian Rowing community to assist in development of our sport.

Some of our initiatives include:

Breaking the Drought

Sykes Racing, the Australian Institute of Sport and the National Talent Identification Development Program are joint sponsors of the Schoolboy and Schoolgirl Championship Single Scull events at the Australian Rowing Championships. The aim of this sponsorship is to continue the healthy participation levels in the event and ultimately help to identify young rowers who may go on to represent Australia to win Olympic and World Championship medals by 2016 For the last 6 years Sykes Racing has presented a Honeycomb Carbon Single Scull to the school of both the boys and girls event.

Australian Under 23 and Junior Rowing Teams

Sykes is proud to be sponsoring the Under 23 and Junior Australian Rowing Teams by generously supplying a fleet of thirteen rowing boats at no cost for the teams to use in international competition through to 2012.  We feel that this is particular special as these teams are entirely 'self funded', and our sponsorship will greatly reduce the cost of overseas tours for these developing athletes.

Sykes Coaches Conference
Sykes have been proud supporters and enthusiastic contributors to a number of coaches conferences both in conjunction with Rowing Australia and the States. The 2010 conference will be no exception.

National / Local Regatta Support

Whether the Nationals or local club or school regattas large or small, Sykes Racing have been regular contributors of support right around the country to ensure regatta committees can put on the best possible regattas to grow and promote competition in our sport.

Off water to On water

Our Concept 2 activities are heavily geared towards bringing tens of thousands of ergo rowers out on to the water or into the rowing community. From charity events to sending competitors to the World Indoor Rowing Championships, Concept 2 is an integral part of our sports development
