5 Minutes with Campbell Watts

5 Minutes with Campbell Watts image

Campbell Watts is a new member of the Australian Rowing Team and was selected to represent Australia in the Men's Eight at the 2017 World Rowing Cups 2 and 3.

See what he had to say:

When did you first pick up an oar and what club and state do you row for?

First row was in 2008 under the watchful eye of Kim Rudder in the Mighty 5ths for a while.

Who is your role model and why?

Two role models first and foremost is Arnold Schwarzenegger, apart from winning Mr Olympia 7x, he still managed to govern California and star in too many movies. The second is Tim Foster from the GB 4- in 2000.

If you weren't rowing, what would you be doing?

I would be trying to study and get peculiar jobs that I couldn't do later on.

What things do you not like?

Dislikes: towels that don't absorb the water, socks that lose their elastic after a wash, zippers that break, ads on Facebook and YouTube videos. And clunky boots

What might someone be surprised to know about you?

I’m a big fan of salmon sashimi, row with my orthotics, and I am the third consecutive Nigel in my family (Grandad:NKW, Dad:NSW, Me:CNW)

If could pick anyone in the world to take down the course with you in a race, who would it be?

Jimmy Tomkins

Which is your most memorable race?

My most race to date was the heat in Poznan, first time racing in the Aus zootie against known rivals.
