Beam At Waterline
The M223 is the heavyweight version of the M213, designed with a semi circular and narrow hull. Most notably this boat won consecutive Olympic gold medals in 2004 and 2008 with James Tomkins and Drew Ginn, and Duncan Free and Drew Ginn. The use of this boat is widespread throughout Australia for heavyweight men. At the 2013 Sydney International Rowing Regatta, the French men's pair claimed the gold medal in a Mould 223.
"We recently purchased a 213 and 223 from Sykes, and they have quickly become sought after boats among both the students and masters at our club. The convenience of quick release scull and sweep riggers, coupled with superb hulls, make these boats our de facto 'regatta' pairs/doubles for our members. Judging on our 20+ year old Sykes boats still being used daily, we can comfortably expect these new kevlar-skinned boats to serve our club for a long time to come."
