The Mould 829 is the Sykes heavyweight men's eight. This boat features the latest construction and engineering and low-profile riggers. M829 is used by the Victorian King's Cup crew among other clubs and colleges in Australia. This model was designed around the increase in height and weight of modern day athletes, which necessitated the increase in length of each rowers "stateroom".

Low-profile Rigger (for 85kg+) image

Low-profile Rigger (for 85kg+)

The M848 eight has a low-profile wing rigger, where the cross-member runs flush with the rigger flange on the side opposite the oarlock. This provides extra clearance for the hands on the recovery, which is necessary since the saxboards/rigger flanges are higher on the M828. This adds a little to the expense, but the extra stiffness afforded by the higher saxboard makes a good deal of difference along all axes.

Dual Locking Backarm image

Dual Locking Backarm

The new sliding adjustable type back arms have a dual locking system. The 6mm bolt locks the backarm in place via an internal nut. The large ribbed plastic locknut is then tightened against the end of the back arm tube. This gives secondary support and ensures the force is well supported. The adjustment range is 70mm which easily allows for span changes on the rigger.

Pin Block Measuring Tapes image

All Sykes boats come with span/spread measuring tapes applied on the pin block below each oarlock pin.

Waterbottle Holder image

Waterbottle Holder

In the stern-end bulkhead under each seat deck a, is a standard bicycle-sized water bottle holder. Whilst fitted as a standard feature, they add approx. 900grm to the total weight of the hull.
